Regent’s Roots Festival & Camden Melas

Summer Festivals with Old Diorama Arts Centre (London, 2024)

In Summer 2024, I worked with Old Diorama Arts Centre (ODAC) as part of their festival production team, supporting the delivery of multiple large-scale, community-centered cultural events across London.

Representing ODAC, my work spanned festival production, stage management, and graphic design, contributing to both the operational execution and visual identity of events designed to bring diverse communities together through art, performance, and shared public experience.

Regent’s Roots Festival 2024 — Producer

Regent’s Roots Festival is a community-focused arts festival produced by Old Diorama Arts Centre in partnership with Fitzrovia Youth in Action, centering creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange in the Regent’s Place area of London.

As Producer, I led planning and delivery across the full festival lifecycle, working closely with artists, youth partners, and the ODAC team to ensure the event was both artistically rich and operationally sound.

Scope of Work

  • Festival production and operational oversight

  • Artist programming and performance scheduling

  • Coordination with community partners, including Fitzrovia Youth in Action

  • Vendor, volunteer, and partner coordination

  • On-site execution and problem-solving

  • Graphic design and visual assets supporting festival promotion and wayfinding

  • Bridging creative vision with logistical and community realities

The 2024 program featured a wide range of performances and workshops — from dance and circus to music, poetry, and participatory activities — reflecting a shared commitment to youth engagement and accessible, community-driven arts programming.

Camden Mela 2024 — Stage Manager

Camden Mela is a long-running celebration of Camden’s cultural diversity, featuring music, dance, food, crafts, and family programming.

Serving as Stage Manager, I was responsible for the smooth flow of live performances in a high-energy, community-facing environment.

Scope of Work

  • Artist load-ins, sound checks, and stage cues

  • Coordination with technical teams and performers

  • Live schedule management and transitions

  • Real-time troubleshooting during performances

  • On-site visual coordination, including signage and stage-facing graphics

This role required calm execution, clear communication, and adaptability in a fast-moving festival setting with constant audience engagement.

Camden Market Mela 2024 — Stage Manager

The Camden Market Mela extended the celebration into a bustling market environment, blending live performance with food vendors, DJs, and a rolling public audience.

As Stage Manager, I supported:

  • Performance scheduling and artist flow

  • Coordination with sound, AV, and market teams

  • Timing and transitions in a non-traditional venue

  • Visual consistency across performance areas

This work required balancing structure with flexibility in a space designed for movement, discovery, and spontaneity.

Visual Identity & Graphic Design Support

Across all three events, I provided graphic design and visual communications support, ensuring that the look and feel of each festival aligned with its purpose, partners, and audience.

This included:

  • Promotional graphics and digital assets

  • On-site signage and wayfinding materials

  • Visual elements supporting schedules and programming

  • Clear, audience-facing design that supported accessibility and flow

The goal was clarity without sacrificing character — visuals that supported the experience rather than competing with it.

Why This Work Matters

Community festivals succeed when production, programming, partnership, and visual communication work together.

This summer with ODAC demonstrated how:

  • Strong production enables creative freedom

  • Thoughtful stage management protects artist experience

  • Community partnerships deepen impact and relevance

  • Clear visual design supports audience engagement

  • One trusted team member can move fluidly between roles as needed

Representing ODAC across multiple events reflected a shared commitment to inclusive, well-produced cultural experiences that serve artists, youth, and the wider community.
